For 1st Time, Fireworks Won’t Fly In Red Wing On July 4

This summer, for the first time since the scenic river town of Red Wing started celebrating Independence Day, it won’t have fireworks to mark the holiday. A committee couldn’t come up with the money necessary to put the show on.

Minnesota Corn Knee-High By 4th Of July

Minnesota’s corn crop has grown slower than the average this year, but it looks like the crop will be knee-high by the Fourth of July. The weekly crop report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says corn statewide grew an average of seven inches last week, and is currently about 17 inches tall.
