Gophers Hockey Earns Weekend Sweep Of Notre Dame

After a 5-0 win Friday night, the No. 1-ranked University of Minnesota men’s hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Notre Dame Sunday with a 4-2 win at Mariucci Arena. The Gophers (7-1-0) scored three first-period goals in the win. They also extended their home winning streak, the longest currently in college hockey, to 17 games.

Gophers’ Kloos Named Big Ten Second Star Of The Week

After his first career hat trick on Saturday, Justin Kloos of the University of Minnesota hockey team was named the Second Star of the Week by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday. Kloos, of Lakeville, netted a hat trick against St. Cloud State to lead the Gophers to a 4-3 victory in overtime after Minnesota lost to the Huskies in St. Cloud 4-1 on Friday night.

Minnesota Advances To Frozen Four

Justin Kloos scored twice and Adam Wilcox made 24 saved shots to help top-seeded Minnesota beat St. Cloud State 4-0 on Sunday in the NCAA West Regional final. Minnesota (27-6-6) will face North Dakota in the Frozen Four semifinals in Philadelphia on April 10. Boston College will play Union in the other semifinal.

The University of Minnesota men’s hockey team completed a sweep of Penn State in Big Ten hockey action Monday night with a 5-2 victory in University Park, Pa. The Gophers, ranked No. 1 in the country, improved to 5-0-1 in league play.

Gopher Hockey Falls To Michigan State In Shootout

The University of Minnesota men’s hockey team battled with Michigan State to a 2-2 tie in regulation Friday night, then lost to the Spartans in a shootout in Big Ten Conference play. The Gophers, ranked No. 1 in the nation, didn’t score any goals in the shootout and goalie Adam Wilcox stopped two of the three shots he faced.
