It’s a huge week for many teams around the state in high school football. It still feels like things just got started, but the reality is there are just two weeks left in the regular season. Conference championships and seeds for the section playoffs are at stake for a lot of teams.
Sometimes you don’t always need to be the best team to win a state championship, you just need to get hot at the right time to get there. That was never more evident than at this year’s state baseball tournament, where three state champions were crowned at Target Field on Monday.
Joey Hyde pitched a complete game to guide the Kasson-Mantorville Komets to an 8-1 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets in the Class 2A state championship at Target Field on Monday. Hyde scattered five singles over seven innings while striking out five, letting in the lone run in the second. Nine different players had at least one hit for the Komets (25-6)
More than a thousand matches took place at the State Wrestling Tournament last weekend at Xcel Energy Center, but most fans were left talking about one after it all wrapped up on Saturday.
