The former mayor of Stillwater has pleaded guilty to tax fraud conspiracy. Ken Harycki entered the plea in federal court Thursday in Minneapolis.
A fraud charge is offering more information to what may have led to the mayor of Stillwater’s resignation last month. Former Stillwater mayor Ken Harycki is also an accountant. He’s charged with helping a client defraud the government of more than $10 million.
The mayor of Stillwater stepped down Friday afternoon. Former mayor Ken Harycki posted on his Facebook page that he did not intend to run for a third term as mayor back in May.
This Friday marks the 80th anniversary of the Stillwater Lumberjack Days Celebration. The festival ended a couple of years ago after a financial scandal involving the past promoter. This year, the city asked a group of locals to bring back the festival under the new name ‘Log Jam.’
