Twins Trade 1B Kendrys Morales To Mariners

Kendrys Morales is on his way back to Seattle to try and give the Mariners’ struggling offense a boost as they chase a playoff spot. The Minnesota Twins traded Morales to the Mariners on Thursday for minor-league pitcher Stephen Pryor. Morales hit 23 home runs and drove in 80 runs for the Mariners last season, but turned down a $14.1 million qualifying offer from Seattle to become a free agent.

Pino Gets 1st Career Win, Twins Beat Mariners 4-2

Yohan Pino has the game ball to prove he belongs in the majors, even if he doesn’t have a big league job anymore. The Minnesota Twins rookie right-hander earned his first major league victory — beating the Seattle Mariners 4-2 Thursday night in his fifth big league appearance — and was told after the game that he’s being sent back to the minors to make room for LHP Kris Johnson to start Friday at Colorado.

Kendrys Morales knocked in three and Chris Colabello hit a two-run double to back Kyle Gibson’s six shutout innings. It was the third time since June 14 that the Twins scored at least eight runs — the second time they did it in a win.

Morales Had Big Hit, Leads Twins Past Rangers 3-2

Kendrys Morales had a tiebreaking double off Texas closer Joakim Soria in the top of the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins snapped a 10-game road losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers on Sunday. Morales’ line drive landed just inside the foul line in left field, and a leaping security guard avoided touching the ball, allowing pinch-runner Sam Fuld to score from first base.

Twins Sign Free-Agent 1B-DH Kendrys Morales

The Minnesota Twins have signed free-agent first baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales to a one-year, prorated $12 million contract. Morales, who has been in Miami working out while waiting to sign, hit .277 with 23 home runs and 80 RBIs in 156 games with the Seattle Mariners last season.
