Trucker Arrested In Minn. Accused Of Keeping Sex Slaves

Federal charges have been filed against a Utah trucker accused of keeping sex slaves in his semitrailer for months at a time. Authorities have accused 54-year-old Timothy Jay Vafeades of kidnapping a 19-year-old female relative in May, taking her across the country and sexually abusing her hundreds of times. Vafeades was arrested Nov. 26 in Clay County, Minn., by an officer who realized the teenager had a restraining order against Vafeades.

Man Pleads Guilty Of Kidnapping Verizon Store Manager

One of the two men charged with kidnapping a Verizon Wireless retail store manager in the Twin Cities and stuffing him in a trunk last September has pleaded guilty. Ronald Jackson, 29, of Richfield, will seek probation in the case, but prosecutors are aiming for a 57-month prison sentence.

Maplewood, North St. Paul Police Investigate Armed Kidnappings

Maplewood and North St. Paul police are investigating two similar armed kidnapping incidents that occurred about 15 minutes apart. In one case, the woman was allowed to escape unharmed and in the other, the victim fought off her attacker and he drove off with her vehicle.

Video Released Of Rogers High-Speed, Wrong-Way Police Chase

Two men sit in the Sherburne County Jail charged with a brutal Elk River home invasion. But the biggest threat came as 40-year-old Aaron Martin and 31-year-old Ryan Woehler sent police on a high-speed chase, going the wrong way on Interstate 94 near Rogers last Thursday. Dozens of motorists and law enforcement officers were put at risk as the pursuit continued for nearly two miles. Authorities believed that the men had a kidnapping victim with them.

Woman Charged In Baby Kidnapping To Stay Jailed In Iowa

The defense attorney for a woman charged with kidnapping her half sister’s newborn from Wisconsin, says her client hopes her half-sister is doing OK. Attorney Victoria Noel said Friday that her client, Kristen Smith, wants to express concern for her half sister because she understands “she has gone through an ordeal.”

Minn. Man To Face Charges In Nevada Abduction Case

Authorities say criminal charges will be filed against a Minnesota fugitive accused of holding his ex-girlfriend against her will for about six months at a motel in the Nevada resort city of Mesquite. Jason Edward Greniger remains in custody in Las Vegas pending a Feb. 26 arraignment in Mesquite on felony kidnapping and coercion charges.

Woman Abducted In Sartell, Assaulted, Released

Sartell Police are asking people to be on alert after a 56-year-old woman was kidnapped in a McDonald’s parking lot. It happened around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday night near Highway 15 and Stearns County Road 1. When the woman came out of the restaurant and got into her vehicle, a masked man was waiting for her. Police Chief Jim Hughes says the man asked for money and told the woman to drive.

Man Pleads Guilty To Kidnapping Estranged Wife

A northern Minnesota man has pleaded guilty in federal court to kidnapping his estranged wife. Forty-two-year-old Timothy Glen Caskey of Virginia admitted that on July 14, 2011, he kidnapped his wife from Virginia, Minn., and took her across state lines against her will. Court documents say Caskey jumped out of a pickup truck, grabbed his wife, shoved her into the vehicle and struck two people who tried to help the woman. Caskey kidnapped his wife just hours after being released from jail for violating a protective order she had against him.

A 31-year-old Burnsville man was sentenced to 60 months in prison in Dakota County Court Friday for a September incident where he took two people hostage inside a gas station.

Authorities said a man who impersonated a police officer and allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Anoka County has been arrested. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said the incident took place at about 1 p.m. on Nov. 23 on the 6400 block of 5th Street NE in Fridley.

Trucker Stopped In Minn. Accused Of Kidnapping

A truck driver from Utah is accused of holding a 19-year-old relative against her will while the two traveled across country. The 53-year-old man from Salt Lake City was arrested last week at a truck scale outside of Moorhead, Minn. A Minnesota state trooper discovered a Florida warrant for the man’s arrest. The man was charged in Clay County court with kidnapping, false imprisonment and domestic abuse.
