Trucker Dies, Train Passengers Hurt In Crash

A trucker died and several passengers were injured when a semi collided with an Amtrak train in central Minnesota. Donald Ray Hedlund Sr., 57, of Bemidji, failed to stop his tractor-trailer at a railroad crossing near Motley about 2:30 p.m. Friday, the Todd County sheriff’s office said.

Richfield Stabbing Victim Moved Here From Ethiopia

Richfield police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man. Police say officers responded to a 911 call at about 5 a.m. Sunday, after the caller indicated an assault was in progress. Lt. Mike Flaherty says officers found the victim with multiple puncture wounds. He died at the scene.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department says there is no doubt that 74-year-old Dr. Stephen Larson was murdered by 30-year-old Ted Hoffstrom, who was just recently sworn in as a licensed attorney.

Suspect ID’d In Doctor’s Slaying

Dr. Stephen Larson is being remembered by his patients, after being shot to death inside his home Friday night in Orono. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, police were called to the home on the 1000 block of Heritage Road just before 9 p.m., where they found a man in the front of the property with a handgun.

2 Dead After Fire Destroys Isanti County Home

Two people are dead after fire swept through their rural Isanti county home. The fire was discovered shortly before noon on Thursday near the town of Braham, and the names of the deceased will be released once family has been notified.
