Wisconsin Truck Driver Arrested In Fatal Crash

Wisconsin authorities have arrested a man who they say caused a fatal crash in a dump truck while he was intoxicated. The La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office says the 36-year-old man faces a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle in the July crash that killed 29-year-old Jason Songer of La Crescent, Minnesota.

Woman Accused Of Stealing Cats Back From Shelter Arrested Again

A Wisconsin woman who was charged with stealing back 15 cats from the Humane Society was arrested for violating the conditions of her bond. Lee Ann Shore, 46, was arrested last month after she allegedly broke into the Coulee Region Humane Society in Onalaska, Wis.

Missing Taxi Driver Found Dead In Trunk

La Crosse police say a taxi driver was found dead in the trunk of his vehicle after an officer tried pulling over the man behind the wheel. Authorities say the officer thought the vehicle was suspicious and when he ran the license plate about 1 a.m. Friday he learned it belonged to a 79-year-old taxi driver reported missing in Platteville.

Small Wisconsin Town Uses Dynamite To Blow Up Ice Dam

A small town in Wisconsin turned to dynamite when heavy machinery wouldn’t clear up an ice dam on a creek in the town. The Town of Onalaska, near La Crosse, Wis., used dynamite to blow up ice on Sand Lake Coulee Creek that was, at some points, six feet deep.

Police say the driver found dead in a car that plunged down an embankment and broke through the ice on a La Crosse creek was a student at Winona State University.

Woman Found In Submerged Car Identified

Authorities in La Crosse, Wis., said the body of a 21-year-old Winona State University student was found Wednesday after her car went through the ice in a creek. Police and fire departments in La Crosse were called to an accident at about 1:27 a.m. Wednesday, New Year’s Day, after a report of a vehicle in the water in Swift Creek.

La Crosse Woman Accused Of Strangling Boyfriend’s Dog

A La Crosse woman could face animal cruelty charges after her boyfriend’s dog was found dead. Police say the 32-year-old woman broke into the man’s apartment early Thursday and strangled the basset hound, Jixer, with a choke collar.

Work Stopped Near Where Man Fell From I-90 Bridge

Work has been temporarily halted near where a 19-year-old worker fell about 40 feet from the I-90 bridge. The state’s project manager, Mark Anderson, says the site is the cofferdam at “pier two,” but work on the rest of the project is continuing.

Worker Injured In Fall From Bridge Near La Crosse (Wis.)

Authorities said a construction worker was hospitalized Wednesday after falling 40 to 50 feet from the Dresbach Bridge near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. Authorities received a call about the accident at about 9:05 a.m.

Authorities say three people are dead and a fourth critically injured after a small plane crashed in southeastern Minnesota. The Houston County sheriff’s office says the crash happened two miles south of Caledonia at about 4:30 p.m. Friday.

YouTube Loves La Crosse’s ‘Grandma Drummer’

Mary Hvsida lives near La Crosse, Wis., and as you can tell, she’s been playing drums since she was 15. Every few months, the 63 year old pops into a local drum shop, plays the drums, then leaves. No one really knew who she was, until a video of her playing went viral this week. Since her last band broke up 13 years ago, Mary says she gets the urge to play every now and again.
