2 Skydivers Rescued From Lake Superior

Two skydivers had to be rescued after they landed off the shore of Lake Superior Saturday, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

Diesel Fuel Spill Reaches Lake Superior

Regulators are monitoring a small diesel fuel spill that reached Lake Superior. A semi overturned on Highway 61 near Little Marais Tuesday afternoon, spilling about 75 to 80 gallons of diesel out of its fuel tank.

5 Condos Damaged In Bluefin Bay Fire

Five condo units in the Bluefin Bay condo unit on Lake Superior have been damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon in Tofte. The Cook County Sheriff’s office says the fire was reported just after 12:30 p.m. Flames were visible from the building’s roof. No one was injured in the blaze. Damage estimates have yet to been released.

Family Of 4 Missing After Duluth Boating Trip Found Safe

A family of four is reportedly missing after going out for a boating trip on Lake Superior Sunday, according to CBS affiliate Northland’s NewsCenter. The station reported that the family left Silver Bay on Sunday afternoon and were heading to the Palisade Head area.

Lightning Injures 8 On Lake Superior Beach

Authorities say eight people have been injured after lightning struck a Lake Superior beach area in northeastern Minnesota. Duluth Assistant Fire Chief Jarry Keppers says a 9-year-old boy is in “very serious” condition and at least three adults are also seriously hurt. They have been taken to hospitals.
