A memorial bike ride held Saturday afternoon honored a man killed after being hit by a van two weeks ago. Charles Lord, 65, had just checked out a Nice Ride bike when a van jumped the sidewalk and hit him in Minneapolis. Lord was then dragged a short distance.
A driver who fled on foot after hitting and killing a man who was walking on a Minneapolis sidewalk Friday night has been arrested. According to Minneapolis Police, the accident happened just after 10 p.m. near the intersection of West Broadway Avenue and Logan Avenue North. The victim was hit and dragged a short distance by a van that had driven up on a sidewalk.
Minneapolis Police say a juvenile was shot while walking down a north Minneapolis street early Wednesday night. Police spokesman John Elder says the young male was walking on North Lowry and Logan avenues around 6 p.m. when he heard gunshots, and soon realized he had been shot. The juvenile sought help nearby and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Two men have been charged in connection with a weekend homicide on the 2500 block of Logan Avenue North.
