Blue Mounds State Park To Reopen Monday

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne will reopen Monday after a monthlong shutdown caused by flood damage. The park in southwestern Minnesota was forced to close June 18. The campground, interpretive center, climbing area and all trails except the Mound Creek Trail will reopen Monday.

DNR Closes Blue Mounds State Park Due To Flood Damage

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has temporarily closed Blue Mounds State Park due to flood damage from recent storms. The park, which is 3 ½ hours southwest of Minneapolis, received more than 11 inches of rain since last Friday.

Significant Flooding Drenches Luverne, Minn.

More rain is the last thing many parts of Minnesota need, but flooding remains a major concern. In southwest Minnesota, several inches of rain forced the Rock River in Luverne to completely overflow its banks.

Trooper Pulls Woman From Flooded Car On I-90

The Minnesota State Patrol says a state trooper plucked a woman from her car after rapidly rising water flooded Interstate 90 and stranded her car in the southwest corner of the state near the South Dakota border. The Patrol says the water was over the driver’s seat when she called 911 around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Line Workers Restore Power To 106,000

Hundreds of power line workers have restored service to most of the 106,000 Xcel Energy customers who went down in weekend storms. All but a couple hundred customers had power by Monday morning.

The FBI is asking for help to identify at least 90 victims of a suspected serial child predator who worked in American schools worldwide for four decades. The suspect, 64-year-old William James Vahey, killed himself in Luverne, Minn., on March 21.
