Two iconic scarecrows that went missing in south Minneapolis have been found and restored to their proper positions. Barb Balcom’s community garden at the corner of Lyndale Avenue and 46th Street has long featured two seasonably dressed scarecrows. But this year, they went missing.

A mystery is afoot in south Minneapolis. Someone has stolen two neighborhood icons. Typically, two seasonably dressed scarecrows, which have been at this community garden for nearly 30 years, stand tall on the corner of Lyndale Avenue and 46th Street. Now, they’re gone.

1st Court Appearance For Woman Accused In Uptown Hit-And-Run

A 37-year-old woman will be appearing in court Monday on charges she struck a man with her car earlier this month. Angela Jackson, of Minneapolis, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Police: Man Critically Injured In Uptown Hit-&-Run

Minneapolis police say a 39-year-old man was critically injured in an Uptown hit-and-run early Friday morning. According to police spokesman John Elder, at around 2 a.m., a man was on foot in the middle of the street near Lyndale Avenue and 26th Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Lyndale. The victim was thrown into the air and landed “some distance” from where he was struck, Elder said.

Man’s Hi-Def Home Surveillance Helps Nab 5 Armed Robbers

The chilling kidnapping and robbery of a young woman in Minneapolis was captured on high-definition surveillance cameras. It happened early last Tuesday morning in south Minneapolis. In the video, you can see a woman walking with two of the suspects down Lyndale Avenue. Look closely, and you can see she is in a headlock.

Family Displaced After Bloomington House Fire

A family in the south metro will have to find a new place to stay after a fire burned their home early Saturday morning. The fire happened just after one this morning on the 100 block of Lyndale Avenue, according to the Bloomington Fire Department. Firefighters put the flames out quickly, and crews say the family made it out of the home safely.

A 19-year-old University of Minnesota student was sentenced earlier this week to 180 days in the county workhouse after pleading guilty to seriously injuring a man in a Minneapolis hit-and-run last June.
