2nd Suspect Arrested In Mankato Assault, Nelson Dismissed From Rutgers

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a weekend fight that left a former Minnesota State, Mankato, linebacker critically injured. As news of the second arrest was announced, Rutgers also announced they’ve dismissed former Minnesota quarterback 20-year-old Philip Nelson from its football program.

Former Gophers QB Charged With 1st-Degree, 3rd-Degree Assault

Mankato Man Still Critical After Falling From ‘Sober Bus’

Officials said Thursday a 21-year-old Mankato man is still hospitalized and in critical condition after falling from a “Late Nite Express” bus early Sunday morning. Mankato Police were called to the area of Warren and Pleasant Streets at about 2:22 a.m. on a report of a person laying in the street.

Police: Mankato Man Hurt After Falling From Bus, Alcohol A Factor

A 21-year-old man from Mankato was hurt early Sunday morning and taken to a hospital after falling off the back of a bus that provides residents a safe ride home, according to police. Mankato Police responded to the intersection of Warren and Pleasant Streets at about 2:22 a.m. Sunday on a report of a person lying in the street.

App Helps Cities Patch Potholes Promptly

Jim Braunshausen, Mankato’s deputy director of public works, has been working potholes for 28 years. He says this year stands out. “Rates in the top ten of pothole years,” Braunshausen said. What’s also different this year is that he’s got some free help. As of this month, Mankato drivers can use an app on their phone or tablet to report potholes. The app is already popular in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Eden Prairie and beyond.
