Fmr. Gopher QB Philip Nelson Enters Guilty Plea In Mankato Assault

Former Gopher quarterback Philip Nelson filed a petition to enter a guilty plea Tuesday in the attack that left former Mankato State University linebacker Isaac Kolstad with brain trauma. According to Nelson’s attorney James D. Fleming, Nelson filed a petition to plea guilty to fifth degree assault, a misdemeanor charge, and have all felonies dropped.

Mankato Police are investigating after a stranger sexually assaulted a woman in her home early Monday morning. Police say the man had a knife when he went into an unlocked home on the 100 block of Maple Drive at about 2:30 a.m.

The City of Mankato officials say a 33-year-old woman is missing after she was last seen late Monday morning. Jessica Ann Scofield, of Mankato, was last seen wearing a pink jacket and blue jeans at 11:30 a.m. Monday on 201 North Victory Drive.

Isaac Kolstad Goes Home After 5 Months In Hospital

The former Minnesota State University, Mankato football player who suffered a serious brain injury during a fight in May is going home to his wife and daughter after five months in the hospital. According to Isaac Kolstad’s CaringBridge site, he was discharged Friday from impatient care. His wife, Molly Kolstad, says he still has a long road to recovery, including rehabilitation and several outpatient programs.

Additional charges have been filed against a Minnesota State University, Mankato community adviser who is accused of burglarizing dorm rooms and using pepper spray on a woman. Alexander James Gowan-Nuehring, 20, is accused of breaking into a dorm of a fellow community adviser and putting pills in her water that he knew she was allergic to.

MSU Student Adviser Accused Of Burglary, Assault In Woman’s Dorm

A 20-year-old Mankato man is accused of burglary, assault and stalking after a female college student was woken up by an intruder and allegedly pepper-sprayed in her dorm room, according to charges filed Monday in Blue Earth County Court. Alexander James Gowan Nuehring was charged with first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, first-degree burglary with possession of a dangerous weapon, first-degree assault and stalking in connection with the incident.
