Martin Luther King
Most of Minnesota’s most prominent politicians are participating in a St. Paul celebration in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Amazing, inspirational and life-changing. Those are just a few of the words being used to describe the first We Day Minnesota. Carly Rae Jepson capped off a fantastic event with 18,000 students and teachers at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center. The kids earned their way to We Day by planning one global and one local service project.
Fifty years ago today, Martin Luther King gave a speech that’s still considered one the greatest of all time.
On this day in 1963, King called for racial and economic justice on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. On Wednesday, President Obama, along with former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, stood in the same spot.
In honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King’s birthday each year, there is always a celebration rally and march in St. Paul.
