Either Way, Bears QB Is A Vikings Nightmare

The last time the Minnesota Vikings played the Chicago Bears, they were well on their way to an important division victory on the road. Until, that is, Jay Cutler, ruined their day. The Vikings led by six points with 3:15 to play at Soldier Field on Sept. 15. Then Cutler drove the Bears 66 yards, finishing the drive with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Martellus Bennett with 10 seconds to win it. Cutler will not play in the rematch Sunday at the Metrodome because of a high left ankle sprain. A reason for the Vikings to celebrate? Well, they don’t exactly have fond memories of facing backup quarterback Josh McCown, either. Back in 2003, McCown was making his third career start for the lowly Arizona Cardinals in the season finale. The 9-6 Vikings need a win over the 3-12 Cards to clinch the NFC North.

Minnesota Vikings Face Another Quarterback Controversy

The Minnesota Vikings hope to have a decision on their starting quarterback when practices begin on Wednesday. Josh Freeman is expected to be named the starter after Christian Ponder’s latest bad outing. The Vikings lost cornerback Josh Robinson and center John Sullivan during the loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but wide receiver Greg Childs is expected to return to practice for the first time since training camp in 2012.

As The QB Carousel Turns: Vikings Wait On Starter

The quarterback merry-go-round in Minnesota is on the verge of spinning again. Christian Ponder was pulled for Matt Cassel early in the fourth quarter on Sunday at Seattle, and coach Leslie Frazier didn’t convey much hope on Monday for Ponder to keep the job this week.

Vikings Don’t Make Enough Plays To Stay With The Seahawks

The Minnesota Vikings stayed in the game for three quarters, but interceptions on back-to-back drives allowed the Seattle Seahawks to pull away for 41-20 victory at CenturyLink Field. The offense was okay in the first half, but horrible in the second half. The defense was okay in the first half and good in the second half before wearing down.

5 Things To Know After Vikings Rally Past Redskins

Entering the critical third year of his career, Christian Ponder contributed to Minnesota’s three straight losses to start the season. Then he broke a rib. After sitting out a game to heal, he found himself on the bench for two more weeks.

Vikings Blog: Ponder Getting 2nd Chance At QB

Josh Freeman’s Concussion Keeps Him Out Of Practice, Ponder Re-Enters Minnesota’s Starting Lineup

The Minnesota Vikings will likely be without Josh Freeman for Sunday’s contest against the Green Bay Packers at Mall of America Field. That means third-year quarterback Christian Ponder will take the reigns of the first unit. The Vikings listed four players as non-participants, four as limited participants and four as full participants for Thursday’s practice.

Ponder Will Start For Vikings Against Packers

Christian Ponder will start at quarterback for Minnesota against Green Bay on Sunday night, while Josh Freeman will be inactive after being cleared to practice. Next week’s as-the-quarterback-carousel-turns episode has not been written yet, but the Vikings have their guy for the Packers game. Coach Leslie Frazier confirmed after practice on Friday that Ponder will start against the Vikings’ bitter rival. Freeman reported concussion-like symptoms the day after his rough performance Monday night in a loss to the New York Giants. He passed the NFL’s required tests and went through part of the workout with the Vikings on Friday, but this was too late in the week for him to catch up with the game plan and get ready to play.

Minnesota Vikings Hand The New York Giants First Win Of The Season

The Minnesota Vikings put forth another poor showing. Even the players that provided the highlights also provided lowlights. The offense never got into a rhythm. The best Vikings defense was the Giants offense at times.
