Authorities found a man dead outside Monday morning in central Minnesota, officials say, as another blast of arctic air hung over the state.
Authorities said a man was taken to a hospital after being shot by police in Hutchinson Friday morning. Police responded to a report of a suspicious man sleeping in the entryway of the Fairlane Apartments on the 400 block of High Street NE at about 8:10 a.m.
A Minnesota business that’s brought Christmas cheer to families for years is in jeopardy. Bob Kendall’s five-year-old reindeer bull, Claus, was shot and killed two weeks ago. Claus was the head of Kendall’s reindeer clan, and would spend the holiday season in huge outdoor Christmas displays alongside the family’s other animals. “Claus was…very sincere, and he’s very loving and he always will come up to you because he always wants his apple,” Kendall said. He recalls the fateful day he found Claus.
Authorities said a swimmer has been reported missing after an adult male tried to get across Hook Lake Wednesday morning. The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office was called to the lake, which is about three miles north of Hutchinson, at about 11:33 a.m.
Authorities said two teenage girls west of the Twin Cities were hurt Thursday night when their car hit a horse. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash at about 11:26 p.m. Thursday on Highway 22 in McLeod County near Glencoe.
At least three people have been killed in a small airplane crash just north of Glencoe on Wednesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
