Five members or former members of the University of Minnesota women’s hockey team will be heading to Sochi in Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Among those who were named to the team was forward Amanda Kessel, who was named NCAA player of the year.
Five current or former University of Minnesota women’s hockey players have made the U.S. national team roster for pre-Olympic competition. USA Hockey announced Monday that defensemen Megan Bozek, Anne Schleper and Lee Stecklein and forwards Amanda Kessel and Gigi Marvin are on the 25-player team for the summer and fall.
When the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is given out in two weeks, Minnesota is guaranteed the winner.
