According to a new research report, heroin-related problems are still strong in the Twin Cities and methamphetamine is emerging as a growing drug of concern. Former ‘U’ Research Assistant Arrested After Police Catch Him ‘Cooking Meth’

A 30-year-old man is in custody after police say he was caught cooking meth in a storage facility in St. Paul. According to the criminal complaint, Matthew Lee Krause was in the middle of cooking methamphetamine on May 9 in a storage locker at the Minikahda Storage facility at 1441 Hunting Valley Road when he opened the door and saw police officers.

4 Indicted In Minnesota Drug Cartel Torture Case

Four men have been indicted on charges alleging they kidnapped and tortured two men they suspected of stealing drugs and money from a St. Paul “stash house,” federal prosecutors announced Tuesday. The kidnappers released their victims, but not before nearly severing one victim’s finger while interrogating him in the house, court papers allege.

Drug Busts Net $40K Of Meth, Five Arrests

Five people are in the Douglas County Jail after the West Central Minnesota Narcotics Task Force, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and local police departments made a series of methamphetamine-related busts this week. On Monday, agents and officers from Alexandria Police arrested 29-year-old Kyle Hildebrand of South Haven and 23-year-old Jami Johnson of Sauk Rapid. Undercover agents bought 106 grams of meth for $6,000 from Hildebrand and Johnson, which has a street value of over $21,000. They were both eventually charged with 1st-degree controlled substance sales crime.

Family, Friends Search For Man Last Seen In Anoka

An Anoka family is searching for a missing father of two. Kevin Casserly, 22, was last seen near the North Star station in Anoka on Nov. 12. Casserly has not contacted his family or shown up to work at Lakeland Tool. Kevin’s sister, Alex Casserly, says her brother’s disappearance has been very difficult to explain to his children. “[His kids] wanted to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal, and for them it was hard to understand why their dad wasn’t there,” Casserly said.

A 27-year-old Inver Grove Heights man was sentenced to prison on Monday in Dakota County court for possessing about 8 pounds of illegal narcotics. Mike Sanchez pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree controlled possession in receiving almost six pounds of cocaine and two pounds of methamphetamine on July 23, 2013 in Inver Grove Heights.

Stockton Man Charged With Conspiring To Sell Meth

A 27-year-old Stockton man has been charged with conspiring to deal more than 500 grams of meth. Gabriel Orion Lowther was charged with one count of conspiracy as his indictment alleges that from August 2012 to June 2013, he aimed to distribute 500 or more grams of methamphetamine.

Rochester Man Gets 17 Years For Possessing, Trying To Sell Meth

A 45-year-old Rochester man was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison Thursday for possessing meth with the intent to sell it, the Department of Justice said.
