This week, Jeanette Wiedemeier Bower from Minneapolis Animal Care and Control stopped by the WCCO studio with Jesse, a 3-year-old Basenji mix with quite a bit of energy!
Every year, animal control officers around the state investigate hundreds of dog bites on humans and other animals. In some cases, the animal will be labeled dangerous and it can be a life changing process for both the dog and its owner in the name of public safety.
Every week, WCCO 4 News At Noon features a special pet guest looking for a permanent home. This week, Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) brought along Titan, a very affectionate and friendly German Shepherd.

Nine puppies that had a tough introduction to life are now getting a second chance. The pit bull-mix pups are up for adoption at Minneapolis Animal Care and Control. Over the last few weeks, volunteers have worked to make sure the dogs are healthy and ready to find a new home.
A 4-month-old pit bull named Jarvis is on the road to recovery after being abused, then left out in extreme cold. Jarvis made his first public appearance Saturday since being rescued on Jan. 5. He was found outside on the sub-zero night by Minneapolis Animal Care and Control, covered with what appeared to be cigar burns and suffering from a facial infection. With the help of the local group Save-a-Bull Rescue, Jarvis’ wounds were treated and he was taken in to a foster home.
A puppy is being nursed back to health after being abused and abandoned in the cold. Someone found a 4-month-old puppy roaming the streets of Minneapolis during last week’s subzero temperatures. Minneapolis Animal Care and Control picked up the young pit bull. Officer Jacob Young says the dog had cigar wounds all over his body.
Seven-year-old Riley Gallagher was cheering on racers crossing the finish line at the YWCA Women’s Triathlon Sunday at Lake Nokomis, when the fun ended in an instant. At first, Riley’s mother, Helen Gallagher, thought her son was just excited. “I heard screaming and he lives with Asperger’s, and I turned around because I thought maybe he was having a meltdown,” Helen said. “And then he’s like, ‘That dog bit me,’” Helen said.

Seven Great Danes who were victims of a dog hoarder and mistreatment in Minneapolis are starting their road to recovery, city officials said Monday.
