Minnesota In Market For New Student Testing Company

Minnesota and its main student testing contractor are parting ways after a rocky run. Documents made public late Wednesday reveal that Washington, D.C.-based testing company American Institutes for Research has decided against seeking renewal of its $61 million contract with the state Department of Education.

Minnesota students made slight progress this year on standardized tests that determine if they’re meeting state requirements to graduate from high school, but fewer than half of the state’s 11th graders were considered proficient in math, according to test results released Tuesday.
