Man Travels From Calif. To Work At The Cheese Curd Booth

For most visitors at the State Fair, cheese curds are one of the absolute must-eat foods. Turning out 2.6 million curds takes a great staff to keep up with demand. For 40 years the original deep fried cheese curd has served up a state fair favorite.

Verizon Adds Cell Sites Around MN State Fair For Attendees

Attendance is up at the Minnesota State Fair and so is mobile data usage. Karen Smith, spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless says the increase in usage can be linked to the fact that we are sharing everything. She feels that people are using their phones more and more to not only navigate the fair, but also to share their fair experience.

Lower Temps Bring Out The Crowds At MN State Fair

The temperatures have been lower and the crowds bigger at “the Great Minnesota Get-Together,” at least for the last few days. The Minnesota State Fair set an attendance record Tuesday and fell a few thousand short of another record on Wednesday.

Franken: Regrets Traffic-Cone Video

U.S. Sen. Al Franken says he regrets a video in which he’s shown holding two traffic cones to his chest like breasts.

The video was recorded at a 2012 fundraiser and first surfaced this spring Republican officials brought it up again this week a few days after GOP congressional candidate Jim Hagedorn came under attack for old blog writings targeting women, American Indians, gays and others.

A record number of people came to the Minnesota State Fair on Tuesday. The fair reported that 133,595 people came through the gates on Tuesday. The previous Tuesday record was 129,423, which happened in 2009.

Timberwolves Fans Welcome Wiggins, Others At State Fair

After a month of speculation around Kevin Love and Andrew Wiggins, a trade sending Love to Cleveland was completed over the weekend. In return, the Timberwolves got Wiggins, this year’s No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, and Anthony Bennett, last year’s No. 1 overall pick. The Timberwolves also worked out a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire Thaddeus Young, who will be the team’s new power forward in Love’s place.
