The end of the State Fair marks the start of a big celebration for one of its most popular attractions. The Ye Old Mill was built in 1913, but rides didn’t start until 1915. That makes next year its centennial celebration.

Friday was MPR Day at the Great Minnesota Get-Together. MPR did live radio broadcasts at Carousel Park throughout the day. And despite the weather there were still plenty of things going on in the rain, and plenty of stories to share.
For most visitors at the State Fair, cheese curds are one of the absolute must-eat foods. Turning out 2.6 million curds takes a great staff to keep up with demand. For 40 years the original deep fried cheese curd has served up a state fair favorite.
Attendance is up at the Minnesota State Fair and so is mobile data usage. Karen Smith, spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless says the increase in usage can be linked to the fact that we are sharing everything. She feels that people are using their phones more and more to not only navigate the fair, but also to share their fair experience.
