State Patrol Warns Don’t Stop For Ducklings On Highways

As unpopular as it may seem, the Minnesota State Patrol is advising motorists not to stop for wildlife that may have meandered onto a busy interstate. The advice comes after drivers on Interstate 35 in the Twin Cities metro could be seen on transportation video stopping or swerving to avoid a duck leading a line of ducklings across the busy road.

Teen Runs Red Light, Killing Father Of 3 In Becker

A teenager running a red light is blamed for a deadly crash Tuesday night on Highway 10 in Sherburne County. Chuck Maurer, 54, was killed and seven others hurt when a pickup carrying four teens blew through the stoplight at about 8 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 11.

A Pine County man is hospitalized after hitting a black bear on Interstate 35 near Pine City late Friday afternoon. The Minnesota State Patrol says 48-year-old Edmund Hanson, of Brook Park, was driving on I-35 when a black bear stepped out onto the highway.

State Officials Say Traffic Deaths Are Lowest In 70 Years

Minnesota’s roads are becoming safer. But in the same breath, state officials say this year traffic fatalities are up. Authorities say 361 people died in crashes on Minnesota roads last year. That’s the lowest amount since 1944.

State Patrol To Crack Down On Excessive Speeding July 10-26

The Minnesota State Patrol launched a new campaign Thursday morning in an effort to keep drivers safe across the state this summer. The State Patrol said more than 300 law enforcement agencies across Minnesota will be involved in conducting speed patrols over the next three weekends, starting Friday.

State Patrol: Fatal Motorcycle Crashes Alarmingly High In 2015

In the last two days, five people have died on Minnesota roads. The State Patrol reports the five people died in four different accidents. One of the people killed was a motorcyclist in southwestern Minnesota, adding to a summer season authorities say has brought an alarming spike in motorcycle rider fatalities.

A motorcyclist is dead Saturday evening after he swerved off the road and crashed in Pipestone County. The State Patrol says 33-year-old Jeremy Langley of Sioux Falls was traveling westbound on CSAH 2 when he lost control of his motorcycle.
