A Golden Valley man was found guilty Tuesday of killing a young Minneapolis couple while driving drunk at over 100 mph in 2003. Philip Scott Bertelsen, 56, was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with the deaths of Brandy Banks-Sutta and Melvin Jones on Nov. 3, 2013.

Melvin Jones and Brandy Banks-Sutta were stopped at a light at Morgan Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway on Nov. 3, 2013 when they were hit from behind. They were killed instantly.
Those heartbroken when 21-year-old Brandy Banks-Sutta was killed by a speeding driver earlier this month returned to the crash site Tuesday. On the corner of Morgan Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway they stood at the curb to say: Thanks for giving.
