An Andover man was behind bars Monday, accused of stealing a car from a car dealership. According to the criminal complaint, 24-year-old Delroy Bowe walked into the New Brighton Ford dealership Thursday afternoon and asked to test drive a 2013 Explorer.
All three champions from last year have returned to the Minnesota state high school baseball tournament to defend their titles. BOLD in Class 1A, Kasson-Mantorville in Class 2A and Mounds View in Class 3A each qualified again this season. The tournament begins Thursday, with Class 1A games in Chaska and Jordan, Class 2A games in St. Cloud and Class 3A games in St. Paul and Minneapolis.
Authorities are on the scene of an accident between a car and a school bus Wednesday morning in the north Twin Cities metro. Ramsey County Dispatch has confirmed that a crash happened Wednesday morning near Silver Lake Road and County Road H2 in Mounds View.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already winter state tournament season in Minnesota high school sports. Just last week, state champions were crowned at the State Dance Competition at Target Center as well as the State Alpine and Nordic Ski Championships at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik, Minn.
February is a great time of year to be a high school sports fan in Minnesota. Every week, there’s a big match-up somewhere putting talented teams against each other with a lot on the line. This weekend, remaining girls hockey teams vie for a trip to state in various section championship games.
Snow forecast for this weekend and extreme cold expected early next week have led Rochester, Austin and Winona public schools to cancel classes for Monday, and other Minnesota school districts are thinking about it.

Officials with Xcel Energy said power was knocked out more than 12,000 customers in the north Twin Cities metro late Thursday morning and crews are working to restore it. Tom Hoen with Xcel Energy said the outages happened shortly before noon Thursday in the communities of Fridley, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids and Mounds View.

The sound of the whistle and team chants will be never more obvious than Monday, Aug. 12, as teams in all fall sports hit their practice fields to signal the start of the season. Everybody is equal right now, and many football teams are hoping the early two-a-day workouts before school starts will eventually get them to the promise land, the Prep Bowl in November.
