Delta Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Green Bay

A Delta Air Lines flight from Green Bay to Minneapolis had to make an emergency landing after an engine was damaged by an apparent bird strike shortly after takeoff. Airport director Tom Miller says the Airbus A319 with 78 people on board safely returned to Green Bay just before 8 a.m. Friday.

Airport Clears Police In Shooting Of Man Who Drove At Them

A Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport official says three officers have been cleared in the shooting of a man accused of trying to run them down with a car last month. Airport spokesman Patrick Hogan says an internal review and another investigation by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office found the officers’ actions were justified.

Gov. Mark Dayton says he’ll urge the commission that runs the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to adopt a $10 minimum wage. Dayton, who appoints members of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, issued his call Wednesday in remarks at the Muslim American Society’s Capitol lobby day.

Plane Diverts As Traveler Appears To Go Into Labor

Officials say a pregnant passenger believed to have gone into labor aboard a plane has given birth at a Salt Lake City hospital after her flight was diverted to Utah. Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann said it appeared the woman went into labor Wednesday on the airplane heading from San Francisco to Minneapolis.

Construction Begins On New Solar Installation At MSP

Construction of the largest solar energy project in Minnnesota is now underway at the Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport. The new solar installation will be built on the top deck of the Terminal 1 parking ramps. When it’s up and running, it will generate enough energy to handle about 20 percent of the airport’s power supply.

A former American Eagle pilot has pleaded guilty to trying to fly a plane from Minneapolis to New York City last year while he was twice over the legal alcohol limit for pilots. Kolbjorn Jarle Kristiansen, 48, was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Jan. 4, 2013.

Traveling sales rep Rachel Anhorn says at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, getting a taxi is not a problem. “This is one of the best airports for that,” Anhorn said. “It’s fantastic. Chicago and New York, it’s terrible. But here, I’ve never once waited for a cab.”

MSP Airport Workers Want Minimum Wage Increase

Low-wage workers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport are calling for an increase in Minnesota’s minimum wage. The workers say they are forced to rely on government programs to get by. It’s part of a growing debate over whether to raise the state’s minimum wage from $7.25 to $9.50 an hour. The Service Employees Union says 600 low-paid workers at Twin Cities Airport – including wheelchair pushers, cart drivers and aircraft cleaners – earn an average of $7.73 an hour, and receive millions of dollars in state public assistance.
