Flooding Impact Still Challenges Scott Co. Town

Months after the floods, one of the communities that saw some of the worst damage has a lot of cleanup and repairs to do. Heavy rain washed out major roads, triggered mudslides and flooded homes in the town of Blakeley, which is about an hour southwest of the Twin Cities.

Dayton Makes Formal Request For Federal Disaster Aid

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton is citing more than $55 million in public response costs and infrastructure damage in a formal application for federal disaster aid stemming from June’s widespread flooding, mudslides and high winds. Dayton made the request Wednesday in a letter to President Barack Obama.

Twin Cities Assessing Flood Damage, Bracing For More

From St. Louis Park to St. Paul — sandbags to mudslides– evidence of flooding is all over the metro. “The people who’ve been here years and years never seen it this bad,” said Tharcisse Mulfinger, of St. Louis Park.

Rain Causes Mudslides, Road Closures In Winona Co.

Thunderstorms dumped several inches of rain in and around the bluff town of Winona early Saturday morning. WCCO Weather Watcher Dan Amundson reported eight inches of rain in the area. Flash flooding washed away part of a road on Bob Dunn’s property, and the force took out a walking bridge. “You can actually see the mud build up. You can drive across there before. I used to have a decent road,” Dunn said. “That used to be a bridge, used to have a bridge going right across here.”

Flooding Closes Hwy 169 SB Between Mankato, St. Peter

Steady rain on Saturday has forced MnDOT to close a 10-mile stretch Highway 169 south from St. Peter to Mankato until Sunday.
