Jury Selection Monday For Little Falls Man Who Shot, Killed 2 Teens

The trial is getting underway this week for a Little Falls man who said he killed two teenagers in self-defense. It was Thanksgiving Day 2012 when Byron Smith said he shot Nick Brady, 17, and Haile Kifer, 18, several times after they broke into his home.

Teen Gets Life In Prison For Killing Friend’s Grandmother

The Willmar teenager who pleaded guilty to killing his friend’s grandmother has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. Brok Junkermeier, 19, admitted to choking and then stabbing Lila Warwick at her home on July 29, 2013. He had hatched a plan with her grandson to steal her money. He described his actions in court last week. He said after he forced her to write a check to him, he strangled her for 20 minutes. After that, he got a dagger and started stabbing her because, as he confessed, “I didn’t think she was dead.”

$1M Bond For each Of 3 Suspects In Fargo Slaying

Bond has been set at $1 million cash each for a Minnesota father and two children facing murder charges in North Dakota. Forty-six-year-old Arlen Clapper and his children, 19-year-old Alexander Clapper and 22-year-old Tamara Clapper, are charged in the March 14 stabbing death of 26-year-old Rolandas House in Fargo.

Man Pleads Guilty In Homicide; 3 Others Charged

One man pleaded guilty Friday and three other people were charged in connection with the stabbing death of a man in a Fargo parking lot last month. Wade Garrett, 19, pleaded guilty in East Central District Court to felony murder in the March 14 death of 26-year-old Rolandas House, whose body was discovered near a grocery store on the city’s south side. Police say Garrett stabbed House multiple times.

A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty in a 79-year-old Willmar woman’s stabbing death, according to the Kandiyohi County Court. On Wednesday, Brok Junkermeier specifically pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder in connection to the late July 2013 incident.

Benton Co. Sheriff: Missing Foley Man’s Death Was Homicide

The Benton County Sheriff’s office says a missing Foley man, whose body was found Tuesday, was a victim of homicidal violence. Jamie Wylie, 31, was found Tuesday on the side of County Road 75 between East Germain Street and Mayhew Lake Road, just east of St. Cloud. Wylie was last heard from in a cell phone call on Dec. 9, 2013, after he left a friend’s home in St. Cloud. His wife and friends described him as being upset when he left that evening.

Jury Finds Man Guilty In Shooting Of St. Paul Bar Owner

A Ramsey County jury found Yia Her guilty on all counts Tuesday night in connection with the June 2013 shooting death of a St. Paul bar owner. Her, 27, had been charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder in the incident.

Man To Stand Trial In Pa. Murder Of Minn. Teacher-To-Be

A man already serving a life sentence in one murder case will be heading to trial in the shooting death of an aspiring teacher from Minnesota who authorities say was gunned down for his iPod a month after moving to Philadelphia. Prosecutors say a grand jury charged 35-year-old Marcellus Jones on Monday with murder, conspiracy, robbery and other counts in the May 2008 murder of 23-year-old Beau Zabel. Authorities said Zabel had moved from Austin, Minn., and was scheduled to start work in the public schools.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Tom Reid’s Bar Shooting

A 30-year-old man is charged with second-degree attempted murder after a shooting at a popular downtown St. Paul sports bar Friday night. St. Paul Police responded just after 11:30 p.m. Friday to Tom Reid’s Bar on 258 W. 7th St. on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the victim laying on his back on the ground, with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Minneapolis Man Convicted In Murder Of 13-Year-Old

A 27-year-old Minneapolis man was sentenced Wednesday to life without parole for his role in the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in 2011. Kemen Lavatos Taylor was convicted on nine criminal counts, including the first-degree murder of Rayjon Gomez, 13, and the attempted murder of two of Gomez’s teenaged friends, according to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.

Prosecutors say a Duluth woman has admitted her role in the 2012 stabbing death of her former landlord. The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office says 32-year-old Joella Lee Tucker pleaded guilty Wednesday to an amended charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

S. St. Paul Man Pleads Guilty To Nat’l Guard Member’s Murder

A South St. Paul man pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Ramsey County Court to the murder of a staff sergeant in the Minnesota National Guard. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, Aaron William Allen, 26, admitted to shooting 25-year-old Brandon James Horst as he was asleep at his St. Paul home on Aug. 5. 2013. Allen also admitted in Ramsey County Court Wednesday that Horst’s wife, 25-year-old Heather Leanne Horst.
