A small town Wisconsin restaurant owner has fallen on some bad luck. About a year ago, Mike and Sarah Moore opened Sam’s in New Richmond. A few weeks back, however, Mike became sick with a rare form of pneumonia and he was sedated into a coma.
A 22-year-old man appeared in St. Croix County Circuit Court Monday afternoon after he was charged with the sexual assault of a minor on Saturday. According to New Richmond Police, an officer noticed a vehicle parked in Woodland Creek Park shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday with Ohio license plates. The officer found two males undressed inside, and after questioning found their ages were 22 and 15.
Authorities in western Wisconsin are looking for a male suspect after a store was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday in New Richmond, Wis. New Richmond Police responded to the Cash Store on the 1600 block of Dorset Lane at about 5:55 p.m. Wednesday on a report of an armed robbery.
A 19-year-old man from Hudson, Wis., was killed Wednesday in a rollover crash in western Wisconsin, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities responded to the accident at about 5:18 a.m. on the 1600 block County Highway A in the town of Richmond.
Derek Lilyquist and Jeremy Gilbert spent 30 hours ringing bells for the Salvation Army in front of the County Market in Hudson, Wis. Their goal was to raise $50,000 for a homeless shelter in nearby New Richmond. Friday night, about an hour before the end of their marathon, Lilyquist and Gilbert topped their goal, raising nearly $52,000.
The Polk County Sheriff’s office is investigating accusations of animal neglect on a farm owned by a Wisconsin family. Milltown Township officials say they found nearly two dozen horses malnourished, and several were dead when they were called to Otter Creek Ranch last week. Polk County Town Chair Harlen Hegdal says it was a disturbing sight. “I knew it had to be serious because the sheriff’s deputy said ‘We need to have you out here ASAP,” Hegdal said. “There were dead horses, there were horses eating their stalls. There were horses just sitting rocking, back and forth.”
New Richmond Police are investigating after a dead body was discovered below a water tower Monday morning. At 7:46 p.m., the St. Croix County Dispatch received a phone call indicating that there was a body of a male victim lying on the ground below the water tower located behind the New Richmond Fire Department, according to police.
