Josh Freeman’s Concussion Keeps Him Out Of Practice, Ponder Re-Enters Minnesota’s Starting Lineup

The Minnesota Vikings will likely be without Josh Freeman for Sunday’s contest against the Green Bay Packers at Mall of America Field. That means third-year quarterback Christian Ponder will take the reigns of the first unit. The Vikings listed four players as non-participants, four as limited participants and four as full participants for Thursday’s practice.

Freeman Suffering From Concussion Symptoms, Ponder Likely To Start For Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings may be without Josh Freeman for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers at Mall of America Field due to concussion symptoms. If he cannot go, Christian Ponder would return to the starting lineup. The Vikings made a roster move this week by claiming cornerback Shaun Prater off waivers and released Jacob Lacey.

The Minnesota Vikings put forth another poor showing. Even the players that provided the highlights also provided lowlights. The offense never got into a rhythm. The best Vikings defense was the Giants offense at times.

Minnesota Vikings Safety Harrison Smith May Need Surgery

The Minnesota Vikings announced that safety Harrison Smith will not play in Monday’s game against the New York Giants because of turf toe. In fact, the team is checking with doctors to see if rest and rehab can heal the second-year safety or if surgery is required. Surgery would put Smith on the injured reserve list.

Minnesota Vikings’ Defense Is Having A Disappointing Season

The Minnesota Vikings have a very good defense on paper. However, on the field it has been a different story. The Vikings rank near the bottom in the league in most statistical defensive categories. The Vikings lost linebacker Desmond Bishop to a torn ACL during the Week 5 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Uninspired And Effortless Vikings Lose To Carolina

The Minnesota Vikings showed very little effort in a blow out loss to the Carolina Panthers. The offense failed to move the ball as efficiently as it did in its previous game. Matt Cassel was unable to maintain the spark he had in London. The defense was shredded from beginning to end. The special teams units barely got a chance to show anything.

Josh Freeman Joins The Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings signed quarterback Josh Freeman . Freeman had issues in Tampa Bay, but the Vikings are not concerned by what happened. The Vikings need to make a move on the roster with a couple options involving incumbent starter Christian Ponder and third-stringer McLeod Bethel-Thompson. The Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority completed a portion of the terms that could lead to the team’s new stadium. The most important part of the two documents for fans is the Stadium Builder’s License. There has been strong opposition to the use of them, but they have become a part of professional sports.

Minnesota Vikings Safety Harrison Smith Preparing For A Fine

Harrison Smith is likely going to get the fine of his young career following an unnecessary roughness penalty for a helmet-to-helmet hit in the Minnesota Vikings victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. While the safety is prepared for the fine, he is not sure it is right. Blair Walsh set the Vikings career record for 50-plus-yard field goals. Christian Ponder’s broken ribs forced the Minnesota Vikings to start backup quarterback Matt Cassel. The nine-year veteran led the team to a 34-27 victory. Defensive tackle Kevin Williams was the only Minnesota Vikings to miss practice Thursday. Safety Harrison Smith and McLeod Bethel-Thompson were the only players to have their practice status change from Wednesday to Thursday.
