Nye’s Polonaise Room
Nye’s Polonaise Room will soon be closed, but they are not going down without having a little fun first. They are holding a two-day farewell tent party. You can see the “World’s Most Dangerous Polka Band” Saturday, as well as other live entertainment performances.
Even though it looks like it will be a windy and stormy weekend, some unstoppable fun is underway! Giant turkey legs are back along with the Minnesota Renaissance Festival! It’s grown to be the largest Renaissance fest in the U.S. with an annual attendance of 300,000 people! There are 250 shopping booths, 16 stages for live entertainment, jousting, food and much more. It goes from Saturday through Oct. 4.
Minneapolis’ legendary Nye’s Polonaise Room got a reprieve of sorts Thursday. The iconic establishment was set to close late this summer or early fall to make way for a high-rise apartment building.

A beloved Minneapolis restaurant will get a special sendoff from the Minnesota Twins. Nye’s Polonaise Room will close this year after more than 60 years in business.
Plans for a high-rise in northeast Minneapolis took a step forward this week, but not everyone is happy. The Neighborhood Association approved the plans Wednesday night with overwhelming support, but the new construction could have a big impact on an old church.
Legendary Minneapolis bar Nye’s Polonaise Room will be getting the accordion treatment in a proposed planned submitted by developer Schafer Richardson. Renderings released by ESG Architects show that two of the three buildings that make up Nye’s will be included in the proposed 29-story apartment tower situated above the bar.
