The final chapter of a new era in college football will be written Monday night in Arlington, Texas. The first year of the College Football Playoff will come to a close with Pac-12 champion Oregon squaring off against Big Ten champion Ohio State with the first, truly definitive, outright national championship on the line in the history of major college football.
Janie Takeda drove in three runs on two hits and the Oregon Ducks advanced to the women’s College World Series with a 6-2 victory over Minnesota Sunday in their NCAA Super Regional. The top-seeded Ducks (54-7-1) are making their second trip to the College World Series in three seasons. The Ducks will face eight-seeded Florida State when the tournament gets underway on Thursday in Oklahoma City.
Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith is eligible to be taken off the injured reserve list before Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Mall of America Field. He has missed _ games since suffering a turf toe injury against the Carolina Panthers. The Vikings are still waiting to find out their running back situation with Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart expected to only practice on Friday this week.
