Man Plans To Plead Guilty In Synthetic Drug Case

A Texas man says he will plead guilty in a wide-ranging investigation into the synthetic drug deaths of two teens in North Dakota and Minnesota. John Polinski, of Houston, is charged in federal court with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in serious bodily injury and death.

Man Who Made Drugs That Killed 2 Teens Sentenced

A North Dakota man who admitted to cooking up synthetic drugs that led to the overdose deaths of two teens has been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison. Twenty-two-year-old Andrew Spofford, of Grand Forks, is the 12th person sentenced in the wide-ranging conspiracy. His sentence is the longest by five years. Spofford pleaded guilty in October to five counts, including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in serious bodily injury and death.

Wild Fires Rage In Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin

Firefighters in Minnesota and Wisconsin are battling several wildfires Wednesday that are taking over towns and destroying structures. As of Tuesday night, at least 25 wildfires had broken out in Minnesota Some of the biggest are in Red Lake, Park Rapids, Menagha and across the border in Wisconsin.

Minn. National Guard Helping To Fight Wildfire

Crews from the Minnesota National Guard are helping to suppress a wildfire near the northwestern Minnesota town of Menahga. Army Maj. Bruce A. Kraemer says 22 soldiers are on active duty Wednesday to help fight the fire, including air crews and support teams.

Dayton Snags Walleye On Minnesota Fishing Opener

Colder weather and ice, may have kept some from taking part in the fishing opener, but not Gov. Mark Dayton. He hit Fish Hook Lake Saturday morning in Park Rapids for the 66th annual fishing opener. He caught a nice-sized walleye less than a half hour after midnight Saturday morning.
