Firefighters found the remains of a 82-year-old Washington state woman in the aftermath of a house fire near Park Rapids Monday afternoon. The Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office says fire crews were called to a burning home on the north side of Portage Lake at 1 p.m.
Officials in northern Minnesota say a 1-year-old child died Monday night after being run over by a man moving his car.
One person was killed early Friday morning in a rollover crash in Hubbard County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities were called at about 1:38 a.m. to the crash on Highway 87 near milepost 46.

A North Dakota man who admitted to cooking up synthetic drugs that led to the overdose deaths of two teens has been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison. Twenty-two-year-old Andrew Spofford, of Grand Forks, is the 12th person sentenced in the wide-ranging conspiracy. His sentence is the longest by five years. Spofford pleaded guilty in October to five counts, including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in serious bodily injury and death.
