A 18-year veteran of the St. Paul Police Department was shot in the face by a high-powered BB gun or pellet gun during a standoff late Friday afternoon. St. Paul Police say two officers initially went to a home in the North End neighborhood near Lyton Place and Park Street on a report of a suicidal man.

St. Paul Police are investigating what they call a “bizarre” case. Early Sunday morning, 32-year-old Darvez Thomas was found severely injured near the intersection of Larpenteur Avenue and Jackson Street. He was rushed to Regions Hospital and remains in critical condition as of Thursday night.

A Brooklyn Park man allegedly stole a car from a St. Paul repair shop that he frequents, crashed and flipped it, then fled the scene early Thursday evening. According to St. Paul Police Sgt. Paul Paulos, 20-year-old Mario Zacate allegedly stole a 1996 Honda Accord from Tires & More auto shop at 847 White Bear Ave N. in St. Paul. Police in St. Paul are trying to find the man who forced grocery shoppers to drive him to cash machines. The victims were forced into their vehicles at gunpoint at the Kowalski’s Market on Grand Avenue, with the most recent robbery on Saturday night. Kowalski’s shopper Carl Dehnert says these crimes or unsettling, considering that it’s located in one of those neighborhoods where everyone knows your name.
Several searches are planned this weekend to find evidence related to the disappearance of Kira Trevino – the St. Paul woman who was last seen on Feb. 21.
