Lynx Sweep Mercury, Advance To 3rd Straight Finals

Maya Moore scored 27 points, Seimone Augustus had 22, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the Phoenix Mercury 72-65 Sunday to advance to the WNBA Finals for the third straight year with a sweep in the best-of-three Western Conference finals. Minnesota will open the finals on Friday at home against Atlanta, which completed its sweep of Indiana earlier Sunday. Diana Taurasi had 21 points for Phoenix, but was 6 of 21 from the field. Candice Dupree added 17 points, while No. 1 draft pick Brittney Griner was held to six points and 10 rebounds.

Lynx Gang Up On Mercury For 85-62 Win

Lindsay Whalen and Maya Moore scored 20 points apiece and Seimone Augustus added 18 to lead the Minnesota Lynx to an 85-62 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Thursday night. Diana Taurasi scored 15 and Brittney Griner had 13 points and six rebounds for the Mercury, who now face a must-win situation in Game 2 in Phoenix on Sunday.

Lynx G Wright Engaged To Thunder Star Durant

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is engaged to Minnesota Lynx guard Monica Wright. Wright confirmed the engagement following Minnesota’s 91-59 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday night. Durant, who was selected with the second overall pick in the 2007 draft, just completed his sixth season in the NBA. The 24-year-old forward averaged 28.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season.

Moore Scores 23, Lynx Blow Out Mercury, 91-59

Maya Moore scored 14 of her 23 points in the third quarter and the Minnesota Lynx earned their 10th straight victory over Phoenix, beating the Mercury 91-59 on Sunday night. Monica Wright added 17 and Lindsay Whalen chipped in 14 for the Lynx, who earned their third victory over the Mercury this season in a winning streak that dates to 2011. Minnesota’s defense set the tone in the first half, holding the league’s No. 1 offense to 29 points on 32.5 percent shooting while also forcing nine Mercury turnovers.

Augustus Leaves With Left Ankle Injury

Minnesota Lynx guard Seimone Augustus left Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Mercury in the second quarter with a left ankle injury. Augustus landed awkwardly after defending DeWanna Bonner’s layup with 7:01 left in the second quarter and left the game. Her return is questionable. Augustus, who entered the game ranked 13th in the WNBA at 16.3 points per game, left the game with eight points on 4-for-5 shooting.
