Pope Co. Woman Is State’s 1st West Nile Case Of 2014

A Pope County woman has become Minnesota’s first confirmed case of West Nile virus this season. She was diagnosed with the virus on Aug. 2, according to David Nietzel with the Minnesota Department of Health. He says most often people can have it and not know it.

Man Shot Dead After Alleged Domestic Assault Is ID’d

Authorities have identified the man who was found dead from a gunshot wound in Gilchrist Township Wednesday evening. Twenty-five-year-old Anthony Ray Tullis, of Gilchrist Township, died as a result of a gunshot wound Wednesday evening.

Authorities Investigate Rural Pope County Shooting Death

The Pope County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound in Gilchrist Township. At 11:24 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a 911 call about a person who had been shot inside a rural Pope County residence.
