It was a sad time for fans of onion rings, cheeseburgers and hot rods when Porky’s closed in 2011.

On Sunday night, Porky’s drive-in, a local icon on University Avenue where you can find a kitchen full of food and a parking lot full of classic cars, served its last burger.
It opened in 1953 as one of the first drive-in restaurants in the Twin Cities. But now Porky’s is being sold to a near-by senior housing developer and Sunday is the last scheduled day of operation.
An iconic St. Paul restaurant will close this weekend.
