Zach Hillman ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns and the Eagles completed an undefeated season by beating New London-Spicer 35-14 Saturday in the Class 3A championship game.
Grant Hennen rushed for 179 yards, Cole Hennen had a long clinching score and Minneota held off Dawson-Boyd 28-14 Saturday in the Class 1A Championship at the Prep Bowl.
It still sounds the same at the Minnesota High School Prep Bowl, with bands belting out the tunes, fans cheering their lungs out. But cheering in comfort depends on your layers. Holdingford fan Angie Lichy and her boys brought a little extra to TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. “We have sleeping bags, lots of layers of clothes and … I made the boys wear their long underwear,” Lichy said.
C.J. Schwintek ran for 146 yards and a touchdown as Becker beat DeLaSalle 24-6 Friday in the Prep Bowl to win the Class 4A state football championship. Dawson Brown had three interceptions for Becker (12-1), which won its second school title.
A fast start and stout defense led to a second straight state football title for Grand Meadow. Michael Stejskal threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns as Grand Meadow beat Edgerton/Ellsworth 48-0 Friday in the 9-Man Championship at the Prep Bowl.

even state champions were crowned last weekend as the Minnesota State High School League hosted its final Prep Bowl at the Metrodome. For seven teams, getting to hoist a championship trophy last weekend made the extra weightlifting and work over the summer worth it. Over the course of 13 or 14 weeks, teammates became best friends as they all drove toward a common goal: Getting to the Metrodome for the Prep Bowl and winning it.
