Lawmakers Seek Tougher Penalty For Repeat DWIs

A pair of Minnesota state Republican lawmakers wants the Legislature to strengthen the maximum penalty for repeat drunk-driver offenders. Rep. Chris Swedzinski and Sen. Gary Dahms appeared at a news conference with the parents of a 5-month-old boy whom a drunk driver killed in July 2012.

Mpls. Public Schools To Change Discipline Strategies

The Minneapolis Public School system is reevaluating how they discipline children. This comes after some alarming numbers got the district some negative attention. Records show minority students and those with special needs are getting harsher punishments than white students. Last year, black students were suspended at a rate more than five times that of white students.
