R.A. Dickey pitched into the seventh inning for Toronto, and the Blue Jays hung on for a 6-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night. Dickey (12-12) won his third straight start, giving up seven hits and three runs to a Twins team he was a reliever for in 2009. He struck out four and walked one. Jose Reyes reached base all four times and sparked a five-run second against Mike Pelfrey (5-11) with an RBI single. Brett Lawrie hit a two-run single and Moises Sierra followed with a two-run double in that inning.
John Buck kept up his powerful start with a grand slam, his fourth home run in the last four games, and the New York Mets beat the Minnesota Twins 16-5 as snowflakes fell at Target Field on Friday night.
Seven years removed from the only pitch he ever saw in the majors, Adam Greenberg returned to a major league batter’s box on Tuesday night as a pinch hitter for the Miami Marlins against the New York Mets’ R.A. Dickey.
Kevin Youkilis was in town today to play the Twins. He’s batting second and wearing a new pair of Sox. The Youkilis trade is likely to be the first of many before the trade deadline on July 31st at 5pm (CST).
