Man Charged With Fatally Shooting Girlfriend, Trying To Shoot Her Father

The suspect In the shooting death of a St. Paul woman told authorities that he was hearing voices when he allegedly shot her in the head and then tried to shoot her father Wednesday evening. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, 19-year-old Timothy Scott Hendricks was charged with one count of second-degree murder in the death of his former girlfriend, 20-year-old Michelle Ploetz, and one count of second-degree attempted murder of her father, 45-year-old John Ploetz.

Ramsey Co. Reopens Cases Against Archbishop Nienstedt And Fmr. Priest

Prosecutors say they want St. Paul Police to reopen a sexual abuse case against Archbishop John Nienstedt, but not because of any new evidence. The Ramsey County Attorney’s office told WCCO that it doesn’t want reports from the Nienstedt case being made public yet because of other elements that need to be investigated. They say those other elements don’t have anything to do with the archbishop.

Archbishop Nienstedt Won’t Be Charged In Alleged Groping Incident

Charges will not be filed against Archbishop John Nienstedt in connection with a police report filed by a priest on Dec.16, 2013. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office, St. Paul Police conducted an “extensive investigation” surrounding the allegation that Nienstedt inappropriately touched a boy during a photo session at a confirmation ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint Paul on May 5, 2009.

S. St. Paul Man Pleads Guilty To Nat’l Guard Member’s Murder

A South St. Paul man pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Ramsey County Court to the murder of a staff sergeant in the Minnesota National Guard. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, Aaron William Allen, 26, admitted to shooting 25-year-old Brandon James Horst as he was asleep at his St. Paul home on Aug. 5. 2013. Allen also admitted in Ramsey County Court Wednesday that Horst’s wife, 25-year-old Heather Leanne Horst.

A jury found a 17-year-old boy guilty of taking part in the brutal beating of a St. Paul man last August that left the victim with severe head injuries, the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office says.

Man Gets Longest-Ever Sex Trafficking Sentence In MN History

A 30-year-old St. Paul man received the longest sentence ever imposed on anyone found guilty of sex-trafficking in Minnesota history. Otis Deno Washington was found guilty of first- and second-degree solicitation to practice prostitution (one involving a minor), two counts of promotion of prostitution, and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Chicago Man Gets MN’s Longest Sex Trafficking Sentence

A Chicago man was sentenced Friday to more than 26 years in prison for the sex trafficking of a teenage girl – which may be the longest sentence ever given in Minnesota for such a crime. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, Arteco Marvell Rhodes, 38, was found guilty on Nov. 1 on one count of engaging in sex trafficking in the first degree and possession of child pornography. Rhodes met the defendant, a 15-year-old girl, in Chicago in March, and asked her if she “wanted to make money and be part of the family.” Within weeks, Rhodes drove the teen and a 19-year-old woman from Chicago to the Twin Cities in a conversion van.

4 Minn. Family Members Now Convicted In Sex Trafficking Case

Four family members have now been convicted for participating in a sex trafficking ring that last about two years, extended to multiple Minnesota communities and victimized many vulnerable women. On Wednesday, the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office announced that 30-year-old Otis Deno Washington, of St. Paul, was found guilty in Ramsey County District Court on multiple sex trafficking counts. According to a press release, they are: two counts of promotion of prostitution; two counts of solicitation, one involving a minor; and one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Teen To Stand Trial As Adult In August Assault

One of the four juveniles who were accused in a brutal beating that put a 26-year-old man in the hospital with serious injuries in August will stand trial as an adult. Cindarion De’Angelo Butler, 16, was among the youths arrested after 26-year-old Raymond Widstrand was assaulted on August 4.

Woman Charged In Hit-And-Run Death Of 92-Year-Old Motorcyclist

A Vadnais Heights woman is charged with one count of criminal vehicular homicide after the hit-and-run death of a 92-year-old motorcyclist in St. Paul on Friday morning. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, 27-year-old Autumn Brenae Mason stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Ivy Avenue and Prosperity Avenue at 7:45 a.m. Roy W. Kromschroeder, 92, was also at a stopped at the intersection, which is controlled by stop signs in all directions.

Charges: Ham Lake Man Swindled $200K From Elderly Woman

A 61-year-old Ham Lake man is accused of swindling money out of an elderly woman from St. Paul, according to charges filed by the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office. Investigators are calling Kent Meyer the “Sweetheart Swindler.”

Jury’s Indecision Pushes Sex Trafficking Case Into September

After five days of deliberation, a jury could not come to a unanimous decision in the case of a St. Paul sex trafficking ring that targeted vulnerable teenage girls, according to the Ramsey County Attorney. A trial date has now been set for early September, according to the attorney, in the case that prosecutes two brothers and their two uncles for sex trafficking at least 10 known victims.

$1 Million Bail Set For St. Paul Man Accused Of Rape, Burglary

A St. Paul man was charged Friday with multiple crimes relating to a home invasion on Wednesday which led to a sexual assault and robbery. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, 18-year-old Curtez DeShawn Graham was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of kidnapping and one count of first-degree robbery.

Man Gets Life In Prison For Gang-Related Shooting In St. Paul

A jury found a 20-year-old man guilty of a gang-related shooting last October that left a woman dead in an SUV in an alley behind a St. Paul church. Joseph Campbell was found guilty Thursday in the death of Neressa Turner on Oct. 14, 2012, the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office said. After the verdict, Campbell was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
