Northfield Man Gets Nearly 5 Years For Killing Dogs In Burglaries

A 30-year-old man will spend nearly five years in jail in a burglary spree that resulted in three dogs being killed in May 2013 in Northfield. Matthew David Jensen had been charged with one count of first-degree burglary, four counts of second-degree burglary, torturing animals and fifth-degree drug possession in connection with incident.

Third Civil Suit Filed Against Shattuck-St. Mary’s

A third civil suit was filed Tuesday in a Rice County Court against Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minn., alleging that administrators knew a teacher had engaged in sexually-inappropriate behavior with male students. The student who filed the suit claims his was abused during the 2000-2001 school year by Lynn Seibel, according to the law firm of Jeff Anderson and Associates. Seibel was both a drama teacher and was a “dorm parent,” who lived with some of the students.

A 26-year-old Kenyon man will serve more than 13 years in prison for conspiring to kill the new boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend in May 2012.

A former nurse convicted of searching out suicidal people in online chat rooms and encouraging them to kill themselves will remain free pending his appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Faribault Man Gets 50 Months In Fatal Accident

A Faribault man was sentenced to more than four years in prison in Rice County Court on Tuesday in connection with an accident that killed a 20-year-old woman.
