Police Investigate Man’s Death After Attempt To Break Up Bar Fight

Maplewood police say a 40-year-old St. Paul man died shortly after being assaulted for trying to break up a bar fight late Tuesday night. Now, 23-year-old man is in custody and two others are being actively sought.

Police Seek Suspect In Coffee Shop Laptop Thefts

A rash of laptop thefts in the east metro has coffee shops on high alert. Thieves are stealing laptops right out of the hands of customers at businesses in Maplewood and St. Paul. Two recent cases at a Caribou Coffee happened in broad daylight. Nick Ryan occasionally stops by the Caribou on Rice Street in Maplewood.

Maplewood police say a 25-year-old man was shot and killed this weekend because he refused to buy alcohol for at least three underage boys.

St. Paul To Begin Tackling 11 Of The ‘Terrible 20’ Roads

St. Paul officials are laying out their plan to fix about half of the city’s “Terrible 20″ roads. Eleven roads will undergo maintenance beginning the week of Sept. 8, and the work is expected to run until mid-October.

Police Seek 2 Men Who Allegedly Shot, Robbed Roseville Pawn Shop

Police are searching for two men who allegedly shot an employee of a pawn shop when they opened fire at the Roseville store Monday night. According to police, officers responded to a call of a shooting at the Pawn America on the 1700 block of Rice Street at bout 5:44 p.m.

State Patrol: 300+ Crashes, 100+ Spinouts Monday

Traffic was slow going Monday afternoon in many parts of the metro due to snow and icy conditions. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were more than 300 crashes statewide since 9 a.m., and more than 100 vehicle spinouts and cars in ditches. Shelly Walstrom ended up off the road on Highway 36 near Rice Street in Roseville. She says she waited an hour for help.

Hi-Tech ‘Toy’ Helps Police Slow Down High-Speed Chases

Technology is helping law enforcement reduce the risk of a high-speed chase. The new tool, from Star Chase, allows officers to track a fleeing vehicle with a GPS device, rather than pursuing the suspect in a squad car. High-speed chases are not just dangerous situations for officers and suspects. Innocent bystanders and drivers are also at risk. May 12, 2011 started like any other day for architect Tom Blanck. “I was just going to meet a client with drawings and stuff, and talk about a project,” Blanck said.
