Rep. Rick Nolan has outpaced Republican challenger Stewart Mills in recent fundraising with the November election closing in. Between July and September, Nolan pulled in about $647,000 compared with about $435,000 for Mills. But Mills also loaned his campaign $128,000 during that same period.

NRA Plans Ad Blitz Targeting Nolan On Gun Rights

The nation’s most powerful gun rights group is targeting Minnesota Rep. Rick Nolan with a massive ad blitz the week before Election Day. The National Rifle Association has reserved $750,000 in ads starting Oct. 28, according to public filings. NRA spokeswoman Jennifer Baker confirmed the ads would focus on Minnesota’s 8th District.

Bills Would Honor Late Minnesota US Rep. Oberstar

Minnesota congressional members have introduced bills to honor the late U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar. The legislation would rename the Chisholm (CHIS’-uhm) Post Office and portions of Highways 35 and 61 in Oberstar’s memory. U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan, who now holds Oberstar’s seat, introduced the bipartisan bill. Minnesota Reps. Collin Peterson, Betty McCollum, Michele Bachmann, Keith Ellison and Tim Walz signed on as sponsors.
