Gorgui Dieng tied a career high with 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Shabazz Muhammad added 19 points and six boards for Minnesota. The Timberwolves shot just 43 percent and have not won since Dec. 10 while playing without Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Martin.

Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin will be out indefinitely after fracturing his right wrist in a victory over the New York Knicks.
Ricky Rubio met with reporters for the first time since his injury almost two weeks ago. Rubio suffered a sprained ankle during a game against the Orlando Magic after landing awkwardly on a drive to the basket with 2:28 left in the second quarter. He said he’s not sure when he’ll be able to return to the game.
The Timberwolves announced point guard Ricky Rubio is out indefinitely due to an ankle injury. A MRI taken Saturday showed the injury was a significant sprain.
Looking for their first home win of the season, the Orlando Magic got a big lift from a pair of rookies. Aaron Gordon had six of his 17 points in overtime, and the Magic beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-103 on Friday night. “This is why they drafted me,” said Gordon, a 19-year-old reserve forward who also had six rebounds. “They know what I can do. My number was called and I was ready to go. I don’t want to hear about (age). That would be a crutch, and I don’t want any part of it.”
Ricky Rubio has left the Minnesota Timberwolves’ game at Orlando with a sprained left ankle. The 24-year-old Rubio was helped off the floor and taken to the locker room for X-rays after landing awkwardly with 2:28 remaining in the second quarter. The point guard had drawn a foul on a drive to the basket.
Nikola Pekovic converted a tiebreaking three-point play with 48 seconds left, and the Minnesota Timberwolves scored the final nine points of the game to beat the Brooklyn Nets 98-91 on Wednesday night.
Talks were tense and tempers flared as the Minnesota Timberwolves and Ricky Rubio’s representatives tried to hammer out a contract extension before the Friday deadline, which isn’t all that uncommon with the kind of big-money deal Rubio received in the end.
