New Law Enforces Slower Speeds In Work Zones

This Friday, drivers will have to reduce their speed in construction zones. A new law will force motorists to slow down to 45 miles per hour or face a costly ticket if they are caught speeding in roadside work zones. The new law comes after the deaths of Craig Carlson and Ron Rajkowski, who were hit and killed in October of 2011.

Lawmakers Seek To Ban Cell Phone Use In Construction Zones

Minnesota drivers using cell phones are distracted, and sometimes deadly. Craig Carlson and Ron Rajkowski were killed in 2011 by a distracted driver in a construction zone who was traveling at a high speed. Carlson’s widow, Deb Carlson of Ramsey, says her husband was killed in an instant. “[The] car that was traveling at 70 miles per hour,” Carlson said.
