Minnetonka Cops Cleared Of Wrongdoing In Fatal Shooting

A Hennepin County grand jury has cleared two Minnetonka Police officers of any wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man in October of last year, according to Minnetonka city officials. Officers James Comings and Ryan Smith shot Michael Tray several times in the underground parking garage of the Claremont Apartments in Minnetonka on the evening of Oct. 23, 2013. Police were initially called on a report of a man with a gun near the apartments. When the officers arrived, they found Tray in the parking garage. Shots were fired, and Tray was killed.

A Braham police reserve officer is alive thanks to the quick actions of a good Samaritan. Reserve officer Paul Dial was on patrol late Wednesday night when his squad car was hit by an SUV. He was trapped inside when the squad burst into flames.

Friends Seek Answers After Minnetonka Police Kill Man

Friends and family of a man shot and killed by Minnetonka Police last month say they are still waiting for answers. Police shot 27-year-old Michael Tray several times on Oct. 23. They were called to Claremont Apartments around 8:30 p.m. after someone said they saw a man walking around with a gun. Police confronted Tray in the underground parking garage, where he was shot and killed. Michael Strunk met him five years ago in college. Like so many other people, Michael hit off with the man simply known as “Tray.”

Officers ID’d In Minnetonka Parking Garage Shooting

Authorities have identified the two officers involved in the deadly shooting of a man in the parking garage of a Minnetonka apartment complex last week. Officials with the Minnetonka Police Department have identified the officers as James Comings and Ryan Smith.
