CapX2020 Project Forced To Buy Organic Dairy

A popular organic dairy in Scott County is closing its doors after a major power line project skirted the property. The owners of Cedar Summit Dairy won a district court lawsuit that required a power consortium to buy the farm. The CapX2020 project is constructing huge transmission towers to move electricity across the upper Midwest.

Convicted Child Molester Charged With Abusing Another Foster Child

After 20 years, a woman is accusing her foster parent of sexually abusing her when she was a child. The Scott County Attorney’s office has charged 59-year-old Daniel Alvin Hennen with six counts of criminal sexual conduct. He is now out on bond. Detectives say Hennen ran a foster care service with his wife, Connie Hennen, out of his home in Jordan for several years in the 80s and 90s.

The father of a two-month-old Belle Plaine, Minn. boy has been charged with murder in connection with the infant’s death. Joshua Scott Sundblad, 24, has been charged with one count of third degree murder.

A 19-year-old woman from St. Anthony died Friday from injuries suffered in a crash in Scott County, authorities said. Authorities were called at about 4:02 p.m. Friday to a crash in the area of West 150th Street at Baseline Avenue in Louisville Township.

3-Alarm Fire Destroys Belle Plaine Barn

A barn was destroyed by a three-alarm fire Saturday evening in Belle Plaine. According to the Scott County Dispatch, the fire was reported shortly after 6:30 p.m. on a farm on Meridian Circle. When crews arrived, a large barn was fully engulfed in flames. Several fire departments – including those of Belle Plaine, Sibley, Henderson, Le Sueur and Jordan – responded the blaze.

New Prague Man Injured By Boat Propeller

A 26-year-old New Prague man was injured by a propeller while being pulled behind a boat on an inflatable tube early Friday evening. According to the Scott County Sheriff’s office, authorities received a report of an injured man at 5:44 p.m. at Cedar Lake in Cedar Lake Township. When they arrived, they learned that the man’s leg was injured by the propeller of a 17 foot Larson runabout boat.
