Morales, Gibson Lead Twins To 8-1 Rout Of Mariners

Kendrys Morales knocked in three and Chris Colabello hit a two-run double to back Kyle Gibson’s six shutout innings. It was the third time since June 14 that the Twins scored at least eight runs — the second time they did it in a win.

Fuld, Hughes Lead Twins Past Mariners 2-0

Sam Fuld so rarely hits home runs it’s difficult for the Minnesota center fielder to tell the difference between a deep fly ball and a shot that might leave the park. Fuld barely cleared the wall with his second home run of the season, Phil Hughes pitched into the eighth inning and the Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Missing Climbers Traveled Far To Ascend Rainier

The climbers who likely died last week on snow-capped Mount Rainier in Washington state had traveled from as far as Singapore, Minnesota and New York to ascend the glacial peak. The two guides and four clients were all experienced climbers who were taking on a more technical and challenging route to the top of the 14,410-foot (4,392-meter) mountain southeast of Seattle.

St. Paul Man Among Missing Climbers Presumed Dead

A Twin Cities family is coming to terms with the fact that their missing son is likely dead after going on a mountain climbing trip last week. Mark Mahaney, 26, of St. Paul, Minn. was one of six climbers who went missing last Wednesday on Mount Rainier in Washington. The National Park Service said they were all likely killed in a 3,300 foot fall near their last known location.
