Second Star Of The Week
After his first career hat trick on Saturday, Justin Kloos of the University of Minnesota hockey team was named the Second Star of the Week by the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday. Kloos, of Lakeville, netted a hat trick against St. Cloud State to lead the Gophers to a 4-3 victory in overtime after Minnesota lost to the Huskies in St. Cloud 4-1 on Friday night.
After earning a sweep in conference play last weekend against Michigan at Mariucci Arena, the University of Minnesota men’s hockey team had two players earn league honors on Tuesday.
The University of Minnesota men’s hockey team remained a unanimous No. 1 team in the country when the latest polls came out Monday, and goalie Adam Wilcox has had a lot to do with it. Wilcox, who leads the Big Ten and is second in the country with 18 wins this season, was named the league’s Second Star of the Week on Tuesday.
Gophers’ junior Sam Warning had a career night to help his team sweep Ohio State in Big Ten hockey on Saturday, and he received a weekly conference award on Tuesday for his efforts. Warning was named the league’s Second Star of the Week after netting a hat trick Saturday night in a 4-2 win over the Buckeyes.
