Archdiocese Puts Priest On Leave After Abuse Allegation

The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has put a Roseville priest on leave after receiving what it is calling a credible allegation that he sexually abused a minor in the 1980s. The Rev. Robert Fitzpatrick is pastor at Corpus Christi parish and St. Rose of Lima parish and school.

Hundreds Of Clergy Abuse Claims Filed In Twin Cities

Victims of alleged sexual abuse by clergy in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis have filed more than 400 claims against the archdiocese in federal bankruptcy court, according to attorneys for victims and the archdiocese. The claims were filed by Monday, the deadline imposed by the bankruptcy court.

2 Former Minnesota Boy Scouts Suing Over Alleged Abuse

Two men are suing the Boys Scouts of America, claiming they were sexually abused as scouts by troop leaders in St. Paul. The plaintiffs’ attorney say the lawsuits allege the Boys Scouts organization created a public nuisance by its negligence and concealment of abuse allegations and by failing to warn parents and others about the “prevalence” of abuse.

FBI Seeks Minnesota Victims Of Convicted Child Predator

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public’s help to locate additional victims of a convicted online child predator who may have Lucas Chansler, 31, formerly of St. Johns, Florida, was sentenced to 105 years in prison after pleading guilty last August to nine counts of producing child pornography.

Father Eckroth Is Laid To Rest, While New Documents Shed Disturbing Light

A retired St. John’s Abbey priest accused of sexually abusing children is dead. The law office of Jeff Anderson and Associates announced Friday that Father Richard Eckroth passed away this week at the age of 88.

Former Hastings Priest Found Not Guilty Of Sex Abuse

A former Hastings priest accused of sexual abuse was found not guilty on Tuesday. The 64-year-old was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a former altar boy at a Hastings Catholic Church from 1989 to 1991.

Archdiocese Priest Put On Leave After Past Abuse Allegation

The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis says it placed an active priest on a leave of absence after it received an allegation of past sexual abuse. Archbishop John Nienstedt says in a statement there is a “credible allegation” that the Rev. Gerald Dvorak sexually abused a minor in the 1970s.

Former St. Paul Schools Custodian Gets 10 Years For Child Sex Abuse

A former St. Paul Public Schools custodian was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing several young children, including members of his family. Walter Johann Happel, 63, struck a plea deal in March after pleading guilty to one count of surreptitious invasion of privacy, after he spied on an 11-year-old boy in Linwood Monroe Arts Plus School student bathroom.

Judge Allows Public Nuisance Claims Against New Ulm Diocese

A judge says three people who claim they were sexually abused by priests can proceed with public nuisance claims against the Diocese of New Ulm in southern Minnesota. Brown County District Court Judge Robert Docherty dismissed some counts in the two lawsuits in a ruling dated March 27. But he ruled the public nuisance claims can go forward.

An attorney has released the names of 17 clergy members accused of sexual abuse or misconduct with a minor in the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis. St. Paul lawyer Jeff Anderson said Wednesday the clergy were identified in notice of claims submitted to the archdiocese and its insurance carriers.

Convicted Child Molester Charged With Abusing Another Foster Child

After 20 years, a woman is accusing her foster parent of sexually abusing her when she was a child. The Scott County Attorney’s office has charged 59-year-old Daniel Alvin Hennen with six counts of criminal sexual conduct. He is now out on bond. Detectives say Hennen ran a foster care service with his wife, Connie Hennen, out of his home in Jordan for several years in the 80s and 90s.

‘Pastor’ Gets 12-Year Sentence For Raping Girls

A 62-year-old Maplewood man and self-proclaimed pastor was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in prison for raping two young girls for almost a decade. Jacoby Kindred was convicted on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and was given consecutive sentences of 144 months for each.

Winona Diocese Releases Priest Abuse Details

The Diocese of Winona released details Monday about 14 priests who have been credibly accused of sexually abusing children, calling their decision an effort to be transparent and promote healing. The information shows when church officials first learned of allegations against each priest. And, it shows that some clergy were allowed to remain in ministry for years, even decades, after those allegations came to light.
